For introduction of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) on nurseries it is necessary to avoid regular chemical sprayings on the whole nursery to control pests. For control of black vine weevil on a nursery in IPM it is difficult to avoid these sprayingswhen the pest is not monitored intensively. Experience with local sprayings against this pest based on careful monitoring are sparse and no clear strategy is available for control of black vine weevil in IPM on nurseries. Only a few include control of black vine weevil in IPM in nursery stock (Dolmans 1994; Mulgrew 1990; Van der Horst & Van Tol 1996). Avoiding adult weevil control in IPM and controlling only the larvae as an alternative is expensive, if performed on the whole nursery and can cause serious environmental problems when huge amounts of chemicals are applied to the soil.
