Raw sugar futures in New York ended with modest gains as a rally fueled by rain and cold weather in Brazil appeared overdone. The precipitation was viewed by the market as bullish as it will reduce sugar production in the short-term, but it is generally beneficial because of the positive impact on cane yields in the tail end of the crop after very dry weather during the past two months.
