Chinese titanium industry developments in 2008

Although the Chinese titanium industry was seriously affected by the global financial crisis in the second half of the year, it still achieved increased output of titanium sponge and titanium metal products. The production of titanium products increased by 17.3 percent in 2008 compared with 2007, reaching 27,700 tonnes. There was strong domestic and export demand for titanium products from all end-use sectors, with titanium imports increasing by 61 percent to 6,387 tonnes.
