July sees copper projects investment of 2,052 Rupees cr

Around 200 more projects announced by the public sector agencies saw new start-ups increase by 22.5 per cent in July as against June statistics. In all, 980 new projects entailing a total investment of 32,808 Rupees crore were announced in July 2009. Out of the 200 projects announced in the month of July 09, copper and copper allied industry projects comprise 16 projects with a total investment of 2,052 Rupees crores with a total capacity of 347,960 tonne per annum. Among the 16 projects announced the largest was that from Jeet Metal Industries Ltd, with an invesment of 1,800 Rupees crores having annual capacity of 102,406 tonne. The project is scheduled for completion by October 31, 2009 in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Thanks to a couple of mega cement and electricity projects, fresh investment by the private sector nearly doubled despite less number of new projects being announced in July 2009.
