摘要

Distrfbuted optical fibre temperature sensing ((DO FTS) is a method for monitoring the temperature distribution along optical fibres up to several kilometres in length. The application of DOFTS in the detection and monitoring of spontaneous combustion has been investigated and trials to monitor adway wall temperatures have taken place at a UK colliery. These have demonstrated that DOFTS can operate in the mine environment, revealing thermal trends due to various activities and incidents, including local heatings. Further trials experience and improvements to system hardware and software are needed before DOFTS can be regarded as suitable for routine mining use.
