Global zircon supply tightens, prices look set to increase in 2H 2008

For several years TZMI has consistently forecast rising zircon prices, predicting a price peak in 2007 and falling prices thereafter. Zircon prices did indeed peak in 2007 (global average of 775 US dollars per tonne FOB) and prices have fallen by around 50 US dollars per tonne during the first half of 2008. However, the market environment has changed over the last six months and this has necessitated a reassessment of both supply/demand fundamentals and the future price direction.
