Recycling grows in the West Midlands - report

For the fourth consecutive year there was an increase in the amount of secondary and recycled aggregates being sold in West Midlands in 2001, says the newly published report of the West Midlands Regional Aggregates Working Party. There was also an increase in the number of sites supplying recycled aggregates and more planning permissions to establish such sites. Details of planning applications are included in the report. The report shows Staffordshire was the largest producer of sand & gravel in the region and Shropshire was the largest producer of crushed rock, although Staffordshire also made a significant contribution.
