Mining passion Sezer Uludag

I started off liking engineering because I was good at maths and science at school, and then chose mining because I found the industry interest-ing. I found myself fascinated by crystals and minerals and wanted to study them, with engineering and mining engineering being the perfect fields of study for that. I graduated from the School of Mining Engineering at Wits University in 1996 and then I went on to work for Gold Fields for two years. From there, I went back to university and did my masters in engineering. I graduated in 2001. Immediately after completing these studies there was a vacancy at Wits for a lecturer for coal and drilling and blasting, so I applied and was taken in immediately. I started studying mining in Turkey, where I was born, before I relocated with my husband to South Africa. He is also a mining engineer. I then transferred my studies to Wits and studied there until I graduated.
