In 1357, a South African delegation arrived at the giant Liebherr's premises in Germany. The outcome of the negotiations was Dr Hans Liebherr's decision to establish the Liebherr legacy in South Africa. A team of 15 specialists left Germany for South Africa on February 25 1958 with the ultimate goal of establishing a crane manufacturing facility in Springs. The construction of the factory was undertaken by Dr Liebherr's own building team. No time was wasted, with crane manufacturing starting the very same year from a roofless facility. And, the first crane - a 118 yard crane -was delivered to Concor Construction in February 1959.
