When Uwe Heissel and Axel Beck lost their jobs in 1992 because their company had gone down, they hardly imagined that they were in for a successful career. The two had been working for an enterprise producing mechanical linear units and came up with the idea of founding their own business supplying producers of special-purpose machines. Thanks to their innovative power flexibility and reliability, the resulting company, HSB Automation, met with immediate success. Today, it is one of the market leaders in the automation industry, boasting a staff of 43. "We are probably the company with the largest variety of linear units," says Sales Manager Adolf Buhler. "And we have no problems at all providing our customers with other tailor-made sizes."
