Shortly after 9/11, anonymous letters filled with white powder began appearing in offices of newspapers and politicians in the United States. The powder was quickly identified as anthrax, the deadly toxin favoured by some terrorists. While steps were quickly taken to remove all trace of the toxin in the buildings and from post offices, the attacks resulted in several cases of illness and death.
