Fund partners ring ALSF warning bells

Rural communities affected by quarrying could lose out on gaining money from the aggregates levy sustainability fund (ALSF) unless the way the monies are allocated under objective four are improved, staff delivering the fund across the UK have told MQR Magazine. Their concerns are raised as a raft of Freedom of Information requests from MQR Magazine to local authorities across England delivering the fund (see pages 6-7) show that during the 08-09 period more than 60,000 pounds was withheld for use in other council services not related to minimising the impact of quarrying.
