Obituary--Tuomo Alapieti (1946-2007)

Professor Tuomo Alapieti died 6th August 2007 in his home as a result of heart attack. The sad news of Tuomo's sudden death was a big shock for everybody who knew him. The loss was immeasurable however for his family, his wife medical doctor Terttu Alapieti and their three children, Tytti, Tuomas and Anni. A tragedy was that one of his last works was the preparation of the obituary of his dear friend, Professor Eugen F. Stumpfl for the present Memorial volume. He really was honoured to do that but who ever could have expected that now we would be reading the obituary also of Tuomo Alapieti in that same volume.
