Having safely delivered a son and heir (or 'Dauphin') to the throne of France, so keenly desired by King Henri IV as necessary to the security of his crown, the new Royal Midwife, Louise Bourgeois, set about preparing the Queen, Marie de Medicis, for her 'lying-in'.
