Following previous warnings that the coffee market had become vulnerable to a considerable correction after climbing 25% in a nearly five-week period to a nine month high on June 2, the inevitable finally happened and global quotations dropped significantly. The ICO composite indicator price gave up 14.25 cents to 114.92 cents/lb between June 3 and June 17. Colombian Mild Arabicas dropped 27.75 cents to 188.73 cents/lb after touching a record 225.97 cents on May 27. Other Mild Arabicas fell 17.82 cents to 143.26 cents/lb, while Brazilian Natural Arabicas were 18.52 cents cheaper at 108.59 cents/lb. As Robustas did not participate in the previous rally, there was also only a sub-par decrease from 77.84 cents/lb to 74.81.
