Celebrating the contribution of Paul Lewis to midwifery

On the last day of September I attended a half day seminar at Bournemouth University entitled, 'Celebrating Midwifery', in recognition of the contribution made by Professor Paul Lewis, Associate Dean to the University's School of Health and Social Care. Those attending were employees of the University or people who had a professional link with Paul over his years at Bournemouth. You may have already seen a tribute to him in this month's issue of Essence; however, I felt the Digest could not let Paul's retirement pass unnoticed when he has provided us with, support and inspiration over the years, both directly, but also through his influence in the academic arena. Paul is not retiring totally from midwifery as he is still active within the RCM and will also be continuing to practice independently.
