The resounding success of 15 Polycom high-pressure grinding rolls {HPGRs} installed in southern African diamond processing plants has resulted in considerable interest regarding the application of HPGRs in gold and copper plants. "We have no doubt that our HPGRs will take off in the gold and copper industries like it did in diamond and iron ore plants," milling department manager for Krupp Polysius AG, Johannes Knecht, enthuses "In fact, we will make a 1 tph laboratory HPGR available in Johannesburg that will enable interested clients to have samples of their ore processed, to give an indication of the unit's efficiency and possible advantages to individual operations. Furthermore, a 60tph mobile unit can be installed at existing mines or new mine developments to perform pilot scale testwork."
