Gold mineralisation at Poracota, Peru

Teck Corp. and its joint venture partner, South Western Gold Corp., have discovered extensive gold mineralisation on the Poracota property in Peru. The property comprises 9,700 ha of exploration concessions about 160 km northwest of Arequipa, covering an alteration zone measuring 1.6 km by 4 km.A rock chip, soil and pit sampling programme carried out on a 100m by 50 m grid has delineated three bedrock/soil gold zones, and bedrock sample results in the largest zone average 1.5 g/t The joint venturers plan to build a road to the property and extend the sample programme to include an outcrop, 400 m away from the grid, which has produced a 1.2 g/t Au rock chip sample. Trenching and geophysical surveys will be used to identify drill targets.
