Low cost vibration monitor warns of equipment failure

Cambridge Advanced Technologies has developed an inexpensive vibration monitor for permanent installation on all type of machinery - typically in mining/mineral processing, pumps, compressors, mills and other rotating machinery. Designated the Vibramon, it continually measures vibration levels and responds to significant increases thereof.The way working machinery vibrates says a lot about its condition, but vibration modes are usually complex and analysing them requires sophisticated equipment. Measuring vibration in order to monitor machine condition all day and every day has, therefore, in many instances not been economically viable. Vibramon will however constantly monitor any machinery for increases in vibration levels: whenever a Vibramon sensor detects significant increases, an alarm is given. A front panel indicates which sensors have detected increased vibrations. Normally, Vibramon provides a warning when the peak vibration level becomes twice as high as the acceptable value for a period of > 1 minute. The panel can only be reset when any required maintenance has been completed.
