The role of element boron in modifying the electronic and magnetic properties of alloys will be presented in some details. This review will cover such properties of intermetallic compounds where boron constitutes an important alloying element. The valence of the rare earth ions is tripositive, but, occasionally, it can fluctuate between 2+ and 4+ in some systems. The fluctuating valence systems in cerium and europium alloys with boron as an additional element will be described. The recent discovery of boro-carbide magnetic superconductors with relatively high transition temperature for alloys will be presented.
