The TI 274 mining truck was first introduced at Bauma 2007 in Munich, Germany. While it resembles the T272 that was introduced in May 1997, in reality it presents some very distinctive characteristics and improvements that have been implemented during 10 years of intensive research and development. With a payload capacity of 320 short tons (290t) and designed to perform in the most adverse conditions, the TI 274 is what Liebherr calls an "innovative response to the market's demand for a mining truck capable of hauling more material with the least amount of non-productive weight". Liebherr sees the Tl 274 diesel electric AC-drive truck as taking the next step up in productive technology. The com pany told Mining Magazine: "Engineered to be strong, durable yet lightweight, the frame was designed to provide a lower empty vehicle weight (EVW) compared to other mining trucks in its size class, which significantly improves its payload to empty vehicle weight ratio."
