摘要

The taking of employment references is a key part of the recruitment process. Employers set great store on the content of references and will indeed often make offers of employment contingent upon the receipt of satisfactory references. Departing employees expect their employer to furnish them with a favourable reference that will cast them in a favourable light. Prospective employers will in turn expect a reference that will provide an honest appraisal of the effectiveness of the individual, to enable them to make an informed decision whether to employ.
