India initiates Chinese TiO_2 anti-dumping probe

The Indian Department of commerce announced on 16 January 2003 the commencement of an anti-dumping investigation into anatase type TiO_2 pigment originating in or exported from China. The move follows the filing of a petition by the Indian Titanium Dioxide Manufacturers Association, led by the largest member and TiO_2 producer, Travancore Titanium Product Ltd, which accounts for about 57 percent of total Indian output. The other, smaller producers, namely Kolkata-based Kolmak Chemicals and Chennai-based Kilburn Chemicals, are supporting the petition.
