Recycled aggregates/WRAP capital grant competition for aggregate recycling

In July WRAP, the Waste and Resources Action Programme, announced two Capital Grant Competitions under its Aggregates Programme to improve England's infrastructure for reprocessing construction and demolition waste and other materials to produce recycled and secondary aggregates. Capital funding is a key element of WRAP's Aggregates Programme, and the aim of the competitions is to increase reprocessing capacity to deliver an additional 2 Mt of recycled and secondary aggregates by 2004. The proposed capital grant assistance will cover two areas, construction and demolition waste recovered from the waste stream, (effective segregation systems and consistent supply of quality recycled aggregate), and reprocessing secondary materials such as china clay waste, used foundry sand, or slag, (to include recycling processes for concrete, brick and asphalt which facilitate use in higher value applications). The level of support will be a proportion of the total project value, not exceeding 30 percent of eligible costs.
