In April Buckinghamshire CC supported the proposed demolition of three kilns and the construction of a new drying room building and four new kilns at Bellingdon Brickworks, Bellingdon for H G Matthews. In the event of the Secretary of State not intervening, the proposal would be permitted; later in April the Secretary of State confirmed non intervention. The reason for this proposal was that the existing drying rooms and drying system were in poor condition and repair was no longer a suitable option. The proposal would not result in an increase in output of bricks manufactured. The 4ha site is within the Metropolitan Green Belt and the Chilterns AONB. Clay has been dug and processed at the pits surrounding Bellingdon Brickworks since 1923.
