Jupiter imposes order in the skies

THERE are conflicting reports about what took place in the diamond class section of the April 26 Etihad Airways flight 451 from Sydney to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). But whatever happened, it set off a nightmarish chain of events for two Australian geologists, David Evans and Jeremy Snaith. Aircrew complained about their behaviour during the flight and the pair were arrested when the plane landed. Eventually they were charged (despite protesting their innocence), convicted, given suspended sentences and deported from the UAE. There are now repercussions in Australia. Jupiter Mines Ltd, a junior exploration company, has terminated their consultancy agreements. Messrs Evans and Snaith had been responsible for handling the company's corporate and exploration activities.
