A second inquiry, into objections to the modifications proposed to the West Sussex Minerals Local Plan was held in November and December 2001. The Inspector's Report was received in February 2002. The main options for taking forward the Plan were:to await further guidance on the level of mineral the Council is expected to provide;to remove the three new sites from the Plan; ormake the modifications recommended by the Inspector and proceed towards the adoption of the Plan. It was considered in May that the only viable option was to make the modifications recommended by the Inspector and proceed towards the adoption of the Plan. The other options were likely to be counterproductive and contain too great a risk.
