Campions Wood: Court of Appeal decision

Staffordshire CC and the landowners of Campions Wood Quarry jointly sought a declaration of the Court as to whether an area that had been the subject of 2 planning permissions could be worked. The area had been restored by British Coal and the owners of the Quarry subsequently wished to rework the area. The site is in the Green Belt near Cheslyn Hay. Minerals exist within an area of overlap between two different planning permissions, one granted in 1956 for clay and associated minerals, and one in 1987 to extract coal. The 1987 permission was completed in 1993 and fully restored by 1999.
