United Engineering foundation advances engineering arts and sciences

The United Engineering Foundation (UEF) is one of the organizations with which SME is affiliated. It is also one in which the average SME member knows very little about. As the 2007 president of UEF, and an active member of SME, I want to take this opportunity to introduce the SME membership to the United Engineering Foundation. SME is one of four professional societies that comprise the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME). AIME is one of the five founder societies that comprise the United Engineering Foundation (UEF). The other four societies are the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
