Newmont's Bronzewing South interest

Newmont Mining Corp. has signed a heads of agreement with AuDAX Resources Ltd concerning the Bronzewing South gold property in Western Australia. The property has been the focus of a dispute over its ownership over the past ten years after competing claims were stamped at the mining register within seconds of each other. The claim of Hot Holdings Pty Ltd, the winner of a ballot to resolve the dispute (MJ, December 19/26, 1997, p.504), was recognised by the High Court of Australia during the December 2002 quarter. AuDAX had earlier agreed an earn-in joint-venture with Hot Holdings, under the terms of which AuDAX can earn a 80 percent interest in the Bronzewing South property.
