Need for unique stone leads to grant of permission for extension to Peak District quarry

A proposal to extract gritstone from a small-scale quarry on Bretton Moor, Derbyshire has been approved by the Peak District National Park Authority. An extension area of 0.82ha to the north of the existing site was proposed to extract 63,450 tonnes of stone at a rate not exceeding 4,250 tonnes a year over 15 years.The products would include block stone, flagging, walling and roofing slates for the local market.
