No action to be taken in respect of unauthorised overburden mound

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has resolved to take no further action in respect of the footprint and height of the overburden mound at Tower surface mine but to seek funding for an independent enforcement officer through a legal agreement. The planning committee decided in November 2015 that it was not expedient to take enforcement action and deferred the matter to allow officers to carry out further discussions with the applicant. It had now been agreed that the applicant would be prepared to fund an independent enforcement officer on site to oversee the security and integrity of the overburden mound.
