BIDDING vehicle Skafell Pty Ltd has announced plans to increase its hostile offer for Australian-listed Tethyan Coppei Co Ltd, 75 percent-owner of the Reko Diq copper-gold project in Pakistan, forcing Tethyan to review its decision last month to back a rival offer from London-listed copper producer Antofagasta plc. Skafell, a consortium of investors led by Hong Kong-based investment bank Crosby Capital Partners Inc and IB Daiwa Corp, this week said it would raise its all-cash offer to A dollar 1.35/share. This represents a significant increase on Skafell's previous bid of A dollar 0.775/share [MJ, January 20, pi 5], and also tops a 'friendly' offer of A dollar 1,20/share made by Antofagasta last month [MJ, February 17,p1].
