Good Practice Note

The Planning Officers Society has recently published via its website "A Good Practice Note For County Matter Planning Authorities - A Drive for Quality". Previous guides include "Good Practice Guide For Mineral Planning Conditions". In November 2000 the Counties of Cheshire, East Sussex, Essex, Hampshire, Kent, Lancashire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Surrey and West Sussex established the Strategic Planning Authorities Benchmarking Network (SPABN) to benchmark the planning service for Best Value purposes. A Sub-Group the Planning Regulation and Technical Support Group (PRATS) was established in February 2001 under the chairmanship of Alan Thornley, CPO, Cheshire CC, to benchmark the minerals and waste (county matter) development control process.
