Liebherr Celebrates 35th Year in the USA

Liebherr, The Group, has been manufacturing products for the mining industry since 1966 and this year celebrates their 35th year in the US. At the US headquarters in Newport News, VA, Liebherr has a workforce of 423 employees involved in the design and production of Liebherr's line of large diesel electric haul trucks under the auspices of Liebherr Mining Equipment Co. (LME). Sales and service management personnel for the large trucks and for Liebherr's Litronic range of mining excavators sold in the US, are also located at the LME Virginia plant facility. The product line of Liebherr diesel electric trucks range in payload capacity from 200 short tons to the "World's Largest Diesel Electric Haul Track", the T 282 B, at 400 short tons. The T 282 B features AC drive technology and is equipped with the world's most powerful commercial vehicle engine at 3,650 HP.
