Rusal merger creates world's largest aluminium player

UNITED Company Rusal, the company formed in this week's completed merger between OAO Rusal, its Russian domestic rival OAO Sual and the alumina assets of Glencore International, plans to invest between 2.5 billion US dollars and 3.0 billion US dollars annually in development programmes. The new company's chief executive officer, Alexander Bulygin, said an investment programme for 2007 had already been formed. He expected the three-year programme for 2008-10 to be ready by November.
