摘要

Did you see the Hollywood movie, "Last Samurai" (by Edward Zwick, 2003)? I was deeply impressed by the faith the last Samurai, Katsumoto (Ken Watanabe), carried through and by the courage Captain Algren (Tom Cruise) demonstrated. The life of the Samurais in a village deep in a mountain was described with surprisingly beautiful pictures. Sceneries which I want to see preserved somewhere in Japan. Consciousness of the beauty of nature which most young Japanse have almost forgotten, which rings the soul of the Japanese,. How could Hollywood appreciate and reproduce these? I am so curious and jealous as it was not a Japanese but a Hollywood director who could so successfully film these scenes reflecting the fine and modest spirits of the Japanese.
