Excerpts from the minutes of the IndMD Executive Committee meeting

The Industrial Minerals Division's (IndMD) Executive Committee met Feb. 24, 2008 in Salt Lake City, UT. Outgoing chair, Gary Tomaino, called the meeting to order. Among other items, he reported a decrease of 38 people in division membership last year. During the course of the meeting, the importance of the new Membership Outreach Committee was acknowledged. Tomaino recognized Roger Austin for his work on the division's bylaws. Incoming secretary-treasurer/chair elect, Srinivas Veeramasuneni, reported that Steve Herron and Dan Hack respectfully resigned in order to accommodate the changes in organization brought about by the revised bylaws. Other adjustments are reported below. Herron, 2008 program chair, reported the need to encourage future technical session authors to submit preprints as they can be included in OneMine.org for future reference. Fred Heivilin offered his services as 2009 program chair, a vacancy created when the revised bylaws were adopted.
