Ivanhoe Mines spins off Mongolian coal assets

Ivanhoe Mines is planning to spin off its Mongolian coal interests into a stand-alone company. Ivanhoe said it wants to concentrate on its core Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold project in that country. The new coal company would control the Nariin Sukhait and Tsagaan Tolgoi coal projects. They are located in the southern Gobi region. Measured and indicated resources at Nariin Sukhait are about 124 Mt (136.6 million st) of high-volatile, bituminous coal. An additional 33.8 Mt (37.2 million st) in inferred resources have also been outlined.
