Practical elements of project management for underground construction

Project management is a useful management technique for managing underground projects. However, the difficult, and often uncertain, conditions of underground projects require particular attention to definition and planning. It is rarely practical to plan for all possibilities for underground construction projects. However, if the project is well defined with an accurate scope of work, field decisions are more effective. The techniques presented here are an overview and are intended as guidelines for defining and planning underground projects. These techniques may not be applicable for every project. However, the concept of taking an appropriate amount of time to define and plan a project will result in increasing the chance of success for underground mining projects.
