Carbon capture test set for 2014; Project in Canada aims to prove legitimacy of clean coal

SASKATCHEWAN Power Corp. (SaskPower) will test the first commercial-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology in 2014. The test will answer the questions about the amount of power needed for such a clean coal initiative. The company completed a $1.24-billion refit to its 45-year-old Boundary Dam power plant to capture carbon dioxide emissions and hopes to make investors think twice about shifting to gas-fired plants from coal.
