The BPCH can be used for shaft drilling because, after contacting the drilling face, its degree of freedom becomes one from two. Laboratory tests and practical experience have shown that the BPCH has several advantages over other machines. These advantages include a lower drilling-torque requirement and a higher drilling efficiency, which results from the special laws of motion governing its cutters.
