Mr. Clark and Mr. 'T'

During my nearly 50 years in the LP-gas industry, I have had many mentors to one degree or another. If I were to focus on just a couple of those, it becomes a more difficult task, but one that does become simpler with that focus. My very first true mentor would be one that in all likelihood was not cognizant or aware of my being in the industry. He had a much broader role and a much wider audience than just me. That person was William (Bill) Clark, publisher/editor of BPN. Mr. Clark, Bill, through his industry knowledge and many varied industry contacts, created articles that encompassed the many different aspects of our industry during the late 1950s and early 1960s. It was at that point that I joined the LP-gas fraternity as a bulk truck driver. Fresh out of the U.S. Marines and knowing nothing of the industry, I found stacks of previous editions of BPN in the back room of Suburban Gas (Doxol) of Ontario, Calif. Those magazines became my companions during the months that I drove the bobtail. During breaks, lunches, and even during deliveries and truck loading, I read or perused those many articles in BPN.
