"How about a StuG IV? You don't see very many of those being built these days". Those were the words that came onto my email screen from MIS editor and master builder, Spencer Pollard. "Sure", I quickly responded, "I'll build a StuG for you". Well, it turns out there is a reason why there are not that many StuG IV's being built these days, the current crop of available options are showing their age along with accuracy issues. Undaunted, I began to research what would be required to bring the current examples onto par, what I soon realised was that I was headed toward a monster of a kit bash session. The idea of combining the chassis of the Panzer IV with the superstructure so the StuG had first been examined in February 1943, but at that time, Krupp had reported that there would be no weight saving over the Standard Panzer IV and that the project was not worthwhile.
