The Shorts Tucano T.1 is the RAF's intermediate trainer, and is a license built derivative of the Brazilian made Embraer Tucano, although it shares little in the way of cockpit or propulsion with its progenitor. It is a turbo-prop 2-seater and has been in service with the RAF since 1989, after many upgrades to the airframe and power plant were made to bring it up to UK standards. In 1/48 scale there has been a dearth of kits until relatively recently, when a limited run kit was released by a Brazilian company. When A2Zee Models announced that they were kitting the aircraft in 1/48 in resin, it pleased a great many people, myself included. I obtained an early production example from Ali for review on Britmodeller.com and began building it almost straight away.
