When Is A Toy Not A Toy...?

Perhaps to our 'non-modelling' buddies all our models are 'toys', but with the appearance in the UK in the last year of large quantities of 1/32 21st Century Toys kits, perhaps the time had come for a little 'mind-shift' from the latest Tamigawa wonderkits and the ever rising cost of our plastic habits. Discussing ideas for magazine articles with the editor we came to the conclusion that a bit of basic and low-cost modelling, based upon something more associated with the 'toy' world, would provide something a little different for our readers. I didn't fully manage the low cost side because I couldn't resist trying a conversion, as you'll find out, but hopefully you'll like the results of some pretty low-budget modelling. Now, I'm sure I share many similar traits to a lot of you: in recent years I have found that my stash has grown, yet the number of completed builds each year has dropped sharply as I've put off projects whilst I researched all the extras and details that could be added to each model.
