HEY BUDDY, LOW BRIDGE AHEAD: Build a burnt-out modern vehicle in 1/35

I've always considered myself as a WWI and WWII modeller, modern subjects never having caught my interest. Everything after 1945 was in a humorous way considered science fiction! It was by coincidence I found a very interesting picture of an M1A1 Abrams in Iraq back in 2003, totally destroyed by a fire. Following some further investigation I managed to find three more pictures of the same M1, all from different angles. I was hooked! What an interesting subject and reference material and all in colour - you don't often say that about WWII models! Since I don't know anything about armour from this period, I started to ask on the Internet for recommended kits and aftermarket products and after being offered some advice, my choice was the M1A1 HA from Dragon and a couple of photo-etch sets from Eduard. Since I wanted to create a diorama with the Abrams, I also needed a secondary vehicle and some figures. After a little thought a Mitsubishi Galant GTO 1975 from Arii and a couple of figures from Mig Productions were purchased all of which would help create the scene that I had planned.
