Agribusiness groups urge Congress to 'rethink' C.R.P. in next farm bill

WASHINGTON — Seventy-two national and state agribusiness, meat, livestock and poultry organizations in a May 5 letter to members of the House and Senate agriculture committees said historically tight supplies of grains and oilseeds make it imperativethat farmers be allowed to remove from the Conservation Reserve Program, without penalty, land that may be brought back into production in an environmentally sustainable way.
