AIB well-positioned to work with F.D.A. on food protection

Pursley, vice-president of food safety and international development at AIB International, sees staying on top of and keeping up with what the Food and Drug Administration might require in the future as essential to what AIB does. "You haveto look at what F.D.A/s game plan is and their new food protection plan," Mr. Pursley said. "We've been building around what we think the regulatory agencies are going to want to be doing in ensuring food safety or bringing confidence in the marketplace." In fact, AIB has been investing in building food defense capabilities since 2005 and has expanded and improved offerings under the Food Defense Re-sou rce Center. While it might have been forward-thinking when it started these initiatives, the F.D.A.now asserts that food defense and food safety should be considered related and inseparable under the banner of food protection.
