As the sun slowly rose above the Chugach Mountains, it began to take the nip out of the cool morning air. The sky was a perfect gray and not a sound could be heard, except for some singing birds and the heavy traffic on "C" Street. Suddenly, those sounds were drowned out by the start of two Dodge Super-Hemi Turbo Diesels roaring to life. As the trucks warmed up, we made our final preparations and loaded the last few items we needed for the trip. This wasn't just any journey, though. We were on a mission from God-well, on a mission from CSM Fred Scharper (Ret.). With trailers in tow, we began a three-day, historic military vehicle recovery that would change our lives forever.
